Calloway County is fortunate to have two major destinations – Kentucky Lake and Murray State University.

Most towns our size are lucky to have one big thing that draws folks in from across the country.  Here in Calloway County, we’ve got two!

Murray State is a public regional university that has been a major part of our community for 100 years.  Nearly 10,000 students call Murray State home.

The university offers over 120 degrees and programs with diverse course offerings.  Some of the more popular programs are Animal Health Technology, Ag Science, Nursing, Biology, Business Admin, OSH, and Education.  Murray State consistently ranks in several national publications, including US News & World Report.

Murray State also receives national recognition for its sports programs, especially the men’s basketball team.  The Racers been to the NCAA Division I Tournament 18 times and have been ranked on several occasions in national polls.  

In addition to athletics, visitors can enjoy many campus events, ranging from concerts to lectures from well-known authors to agriculture and livestock events.

Visitors can also enjoy on-campus facilities such as the Wrather West Kentucky Museum and the Curris Center.
